POP UP INCUBATOR

POP UP Incubator is a unique style of actor training. Developed by Gabriella Rose-Carter and Suzanne Heywood it is a synthesis of their respective areas of expertise with the training period culminating in a public performance.

This experience enables an exploration of the work from two distinct perspectives and provides a framework for understanding how these complement each other. The ultimate goal of any training is to enhance performance and the role of the Incubator is to provides the actor with the opportunity to directly apply this training to performance.

Gabrielle Rose-Carter brings a wealth of experience in sensory work (often referred to as The Method) from her training in New York. Her focus is on combining sensation to text and developing the inner life of the character and forging truthful emotional connection. Suzanne’s focus is on text analysis and voice so together they embrace the why, what and how demonstrating that these two approaches absolutely complement each other in developing and realizing a character into performance.

Incubator on the Road is a program designed to meet the needs of actors in regional Victoria and bring high level training to them.

The program is designed to be delivered over two weekends . There will be a two week interval between the two workshops allowing the participants time to process and consolidate the work. This structure provides an intensive workshop experience while still culminating in a public performance.

This particular Incubator will focus on the work of Shakespeare. Participants will choose a monologue from the selection provided and over the course of the workshop the monologue will be explored using a diverse range of techniques that will encompass the physical, intellectual , psychological and emotional life of the character. This exploration will be undertaken in conjunction with work which addresses the structure of the text focusing on metre and rhythm and facilitating an understanding of their particular vocal demands .
